The CAPNI Executive Director Search Committee and Board of Directors are pleased to welcome Amy M. Thornburg as the first Executive Director of the Coalition of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses of Indiana (CAPNI).

Amy M. Thornburg
CAPNI's Executive Director

Following an extensive search, the committee selected Amy for her deep experience in association management which has included healthcare and business organizations. With more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit management and association leadership, Amy brings a strong foundation for strengthening CAPNI’s advocacy, member engagement, and long-term impact.

Before joining CAPNI, Amy served as Executive Director for a specialty nursing association and as Advancement Director for a health services organization. Her earlier career includes leadership roles with a pediatric dermatology society, a national insurance association, and association management firms—experience that equips her with a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare landscape and the needs of member-based organizations.

“I am honored to serve as CAPNI’s first Executive Director and to support the Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who provide quality healthcare to Hoosiers every day,” Amy shared. “I look forward to building on CAPNI’s strong foundation and advancing APRNs across Indiana.”

A lifelong Hoosier, Amy grew up in Northern Indiana, graduated from Purdue University, and now resides in Central Indiana. She volunteers as Board President for a charter school dedicated to students on the autism spectrum, and as the parent of a medically complex child, she brings a meaningful patient and family perspective to her work. These experiences reinforce her commitment to compassionate, accessible healthcare throughout the state.
