Dear Colleague:

Please join me for an educational program titled Challenging the Management of COPD: Ruling out Alpha‐l. During this meeting, we will discuss the importance of ruling out alpha‐1 antitrypsin deficiency (alpha‐1), a possible genetic cause of COPD according to the American Thoracic Society (ATS) guidelines.

In addition, we will discuss case studies and some myths associated with alpha‐l, including the ideas that all COPD is caused by smoking, only younger patientsshould be tested, alpha‐l is rare, and there is no treatment.

Participants will learn how easy it is to use the free AlphaKitTM tests, strategies on how to incorporate the tests into their practice aswell aswhatsupportis available to providers and patients if an alpha‐1 patient or carrier is identified.
